Therapy for Women

What is important to you? What are you missing? What do you want? Is there something that keeps you from feeling that you can explore these questions? Do you feel valued in your life? What gets in the way of taking your own worth seriously?

Perhaps you’re struggling with the state of the world right now. Perhaps you are miserable in a relationship, or unhappy not being in a relationship. Perhaps you are having difficulty managing the pressures your family seems to be putting on you, or longing for a different way to work and be in the world. You may be sorting out your gender identity or sexual orientation.

You may be feeling anxious or panicky, or self-critical and depressed. Whether you tend to think abstractly or repetitively without accessing your feelings, or whether you get flooded with feelings and can’t quite sort things out, we can work together to think things through.

If you have a history that has been painful for you to survive, you may have developed some tactics that served you well in the past, but might be getting in the way now. We can look at those together and you get to decide if or when to shift or dismantle them.

We can think together about different parts of you and be curious about how they fit together, or how to begin to integrate them if they’ve felt separate. Ideally you will come to accept all the parts of yourself and to begin to move between these states with flexibility and ease.

“There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all of time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and it will be lost. The world will not have it. It is not your business to determine how good it is nor how valuable nor how it compares with other expressions. It is your business to keep it yours clearly and directly, to keep the channel open.”

- Martha Graham
